Mikael Akerfeldt is well known as the frontman of the Progressive Death Metal Band Opeth, contributing towards the band's songwriting, ,vocals and guitar works as well
Mikael Akerfeldt co-founded Opeth. Initially the band was formed by ex-vocalist David Isberg, who asked Mikael Akerfeldt, former Eruption vocalist to join as Opeth's bassist. Soon after David Isberg left the band, Mikael fill in as the band's vocalist.
He is also the lead vocalist for the swedish death metal band Bloodbath (where Edge of Sanity's frontman Dan Swano co-founded as the band's drummer)
Mikael Akerfeldt uses the PRS guitars, most notably the PRS Custom 24 series with tortoise shell flame top.
